This sacrament is celebrated when someone is facing an upcoming surgery; living with chronic physical, emotional, spiritual and/or life threatening illnesses; or old age. The sacrament may be administered as many times as is judged by the recipient to be necessary, but is of utmost importance if there is a present danger of death as it prepares the faithful for their final journey.
